(So I’m going to start updating with smaller posts. Blurbs, if you will, quick snapshots of the wonderful and utterly absurd things I encounter on a daily basis. Things that might not merit more then a hundred words or so, and then, of course, the longer posts pretty much as they have been, every week-ish. )
This still makes me smile:
I was walking down the main road into town Saturday afternoon, and I passed a small group of people waiting outside a house beside the road. The usual “afternoons” and “alrights” were exchanged, the woman and I shared a few words about how pretty her sandals were. While this was going on, the man standing next to her was unabashedly looking me up and down. As I began to walk away, I could hear him start to call something to me. No sooner were the first words out of his mouth then the woman interrupted him. “NO!, you will SHOW RESPECT.” I turned around, and she waves me on, telling me not to worry about it, she’ll take care of him. He began to whine something I couldn’t quite make out as I continued down the hill. The woman berated him some more, he mumbled something else, and then I heard the woman’s final word on the subject: “She’s NOT WHITE.”
I give this post two enthusiastic thumbs up.
Hi Taylor!
I would have loved to hear the whole conversation while she berated the guy! I like this lady!!!
