Mood Music

This songs’ dedicated to a young man who doesn’t think he’s [done] anything good today
-Ferris Beuller’s Day Off

While I have a friend specifically in mind, this song is sometimes what pulls me through the bad days and sums up the good ones, too.

It’s called “Make You Feel That Way” off the incomparable Blackalicious album, Blazing Arrow.

Other songs in my Peace Corps Soundtrack?

Of course, the list changes according to mood, but these are currently the songs that just sort of sum up where I’m at these days (which is all over the place).

What’s getting you guys through? I’ll enable comments for this one!

My comfort music has been pretty dynamic throughout the experience.

    Let me think.

During Training I listened to a lot of Feist, Outkast, The Clash, Radiohead, Manu Chao, and Neutral Milk Hotel.

Low key moments call for Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Iver, Ray LaMontagne, Spanish guitar (various artists), Jazz (various artists–lotta Miles Davis though), Iron and Wine, Ryan Adams, Andrew Bird, and Sufjan Stevens.

There are also lots of times when I listen to The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Vampire Weekend, and Wolf Parade.

Songs that seem to stick around no matter what and get played over and over again all the time are:

    Jesus Etc. –Wilco
Lump Sum –Bon Iver (this whole album is so good that i usually listen to it all the way through–especially at the end of the day)
    California –Rogue Wave
    Oh No –Andrew Bird
Hold on, hold on –Neko Case
Waitin for a Superman –The Flaming Lips
    Waltz #2 (xo) –Elliott Smith
    Ragged Wood –Fleet Foxes
    Against the Night –Jason Webley
    Dudley–Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Here Comes Your Man –The Pixies
    It Never Happened –The National
    Paper Thin Walls –Modest Mouse
In the Aeroplane over the Sea –Neutral Milk Hotel (I almost always listen to the entire album)
    Crazy –Gnarls Barkley
    The Conductor –The Faint
Tango Till They’re Sore –Tom Waits
Don’t Let’s Start –They Might Be Giants
    Train in Vain –The Clash
Nothing Short of Thankful –The Avett Brothers
    Take Me Out –Franz Ferdinand.
    Idioteque –Radiohead

This is a fun game. I like this game.
